My Post-Election, Inspirational American Playlist
I don’t have too much to say today, other than the fact that’s it’s an incredible day to be an American.
As most of you know, I’m pretty happy with my life abroad, but the United States of America is still a fundamental part of my story. On every work call, when Europeans quizzically look at me and ask, “Where are you from?” my response is always, undoubtedly, “I’m incredibly American.”
Because I am. I have big dreams and the utmost confidence that anything is possible, with a little hard work. Believe it or not, a lot of Europeans don’t share this mentality, and it’s one of the very American beliefs that I’d like to sprinkle throughout my adventures abroad. But yeah, not every facet of life in America resonates with me, so I happily took my life overseas.
So today, on a morning ushered in with tears and Kamala Harris’ speech of hope and progress, I’d like to take a minute to say yes, there are indeed some beautifully hopeful parts of the United States, and I can’t wait to watch them take shape over the next four years, and hopefully beyond. As a singer, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this long-awaited change than by sharing music. That’s right y’all, I’ve compiled a playlist on Spotify with the best songs of hope, change, and classic American goodness just for you.
This playlist is over two hours of feel-good, American songs to start your Sunday morning with, and I hope you’re able to put it on, dance around, and celebrate the new direction that America has decided to head (after a bit too much hesitation, if you ask me…).
Cheers to all of my international friends who were sending good vibes and hope for change from afar, and to all of my friends in the US for staying hopeful for four long years. It’s time to celebrate.
